When I was a teenager most of my money came from babysitting. Then I had several retail jobs, I have worked at a newspaper and for a school district. This is the first time in my life I have not had a dress code (and a paying job). Well, I guess I do have a dress code, sorta. It's just to not embarrass my husband or son.
So, I have plenty of clothes for church and the occasional social function I need to attend. But, I didn't/don't have a lot of "play" clothes. Now that I have the opportunity I get to do a little makeover! Who doesn't like a makeover?
Don't be jealous of the above rockin' mom look. haha! Since I'm fair, my husband makes sure I'm slathered in sunscreen and have some sort of hat. This visor is all I had in the car, so it had to make do.
This is what I wore to the mall today. Of course, it's all Target and, my jeans are cuffed and, I'm wearing a backpack. I'm too tall for petite and too short for regular. I'm not 5'4", but I claim to be. Lovey wants to hem my jeans, but then I can' wear them with wedges. Oh, the drama...
I love this tank and these sandals.
This is my usual "uniform". It's easy and some days that's all I can handle.
Here is a cute everyday dress. The shoes are from The Brody Mark-it. Some of what she has is limited. So, I check often. What I really need to work on is getting back in shape. For the past 10 years I have been on and off of infertility drugs. Every time I talk to a doctor about my weight and say I have been on infertility drugs for so many years they give me a pass. It's like that explains everything....I'm a little tired of it. I want to get back to being me now. This week I am going to go on a hunt to find cute workout clothes. And a cute new pair of running shoes! Hopefully, I will have some cute stuff to post next week. xoxo Rebecca

Tax season is over! Woohoo!!
For us that means lots more family time and weekends doing fun things. Today, the hubby closed the office and we ran some errands and went to the zoo. I haven't been to the zoo in years. Like 20 years or more.
Max was in awe. It took him a minute to see the animals, but once he found them he was hooked. He mooed at the longhorns, which was the cutest thing ever. The reptiles he didn't care about. Also, bunnies run rampant at the zoo and Max loved watching them, and the birds.
The tapir was ready to entertain Max. We were all alone at this exhibit when he decided to come and sit right in front of Max. Suddenly, we were surrounded by people. It was great!
The elephants have always been my favorite. What amazing creatures. I have one more Easter picture to share. There is a cute little shop in Tomball (Nana's Main Street Cottage), not to far from where we live. They do pictures with Santa in December and pictures with the bunny for Easter. Also, they have goats! Max didn't want much to do with the goats. Seriously, the owners are the sweetest people. It is a family ran business and you will meet the entire family.
My sweet boy. I hope he remains that way.
In other words, I'm not looking forward to the teen years. haha xoxo Rebecca
Happy (day after) Easter, y'all!!
It has been a long weekend with family. Saturday we had an egg hunt and lunch at Lovey's with my side of the family. And, Sunday we had a full day with my husband's side of the family. The picture above is from my husband's moms house. Max wasn't sure what to think of the pinata until he was able to kick and hit it, then it was fun.
I do believe I mentioned that I had to make a key lime pie and a bunny cake for Lovey's house. Well, here they are!
The bunny cake was more of a snow bunny, haha. I have had this cake pan for years. You may have seen it advertised. In that advertisement, the cake looks so pretty with just a sprinkling of powdered sugar. Well, this is what we got when we "sprinkled" some powdered sugar. It was still tasty and the kids liked it, really that is all that matters. This key lime pie is AMAZING! And, so simple. I got the recipe off of All Recipe. I use that app so much.
For next year, I have my eye on a silicone egg treat mold. How cute would these be for the kiddo's to decorate! There isn't an easy way to segue into this...for all the prayer warriors out there; Please say some prayers for a young man who is in ICU, fighting for his life. I know his wife from a group we are in for our kids. They have a young child and they just announced that they are pregnant. Please lift this little family up in prayer. I can't imagine what they are going through. But, a wife needs her husband, and a child needs their daddy. This has been heavy on my heart. My dad passed in September and, one of my dad's sweet brothers passed away almost two months ago. It's heartbreaking to know a young dad, a young mom, and a young child has to face this type of battle. Life isn't fair. But, prayer works! God has a plan for each and every one of us and we have to put all of our trust into that. But, I better stop there. This could be a very long post.... xoxo Rebecca
Well, Hello! It's been busy over here. But, I am back!
Are y'all ready for Easter? I guess we are. It is Max's second Easter. The first Easter that he will get to participate. We have already gone to two egg hunts and only had one melt down. Yay! Our neighborhood, throws a great "Spring Fling". They have an egg hunt, a bunny, cookie decorating, and plenty of prizes for all the kids. It is so much fun! The other egg hunt was with MOPS (jeans picture). Max is one of the younger kids and he refuses to walk.
My Mom (Lovey) had been at our house helping with Max since I have been dealing with this eye issue. The doctor gave me the okay to pick up Max again, so Lovey went home. We miss her so much! But, she went on an amazing all women trip. Actually, a cruise. She had so much fun! She deserves it. Lovey has always been a caretaker. It's time for her to care for herself. And a cruise is a great start.
So, now it is the Max and Mom show again. I have been told I am spoiling him. But, is that really an issue. We waited 11 years for this little guy!
I love this camo top from Target. I wish Max's matching onsie still fit him. But, he is a long little guy. These sunglasses are also a favorite. They are Brighton, but I had the lens switched out for prescription lenses a couple of years ago. Which is awesome since my right eye is still dilated.
Hopefully, things will start getting back to "normal" for us and I can post more. xoxo Rebecca This crazy weather needs to warm up so I can wear some of these cute sandals. I love shoes, but I also love to be barefoot. However, give me some extra spending money and I can guarantee I will spend it on shoes. This spring/summer I have quite a few sandals on my wish list. Usually, I will end up with a pair or two from that list. But, this will be my second spring/summer as a stay at home wife and mom, so, do I really need them? We go to the gym, the park and take walks around the neighborhood. Maybe, I can add trips to the mall or something to make these shoes a must! I would love to figure out a way to make these bad boys necessary. Aren't they pretty! I love the detail on the heel, but it's over $100. $100 tends to be my limit. However, a pair or two of these will probably find there way into my closet. I might have a thing for pink. Is that really so horrible? The black pair is $70, so not bad. All of these are from Nordstrom. Target (linked) has a pair similar to the wedges. I might get those. And they are $35, so I can get other things. Mwahaha... They are really cute.... In the meantime, I live in these sandals (also from Target) and I try to find places to wear my favorite pair of wedges. I can't remember where I got them. More than likely Target, Kohles, Payless or Macy's. So, come on weather! Get it together! This girl is ready for sun, shorts and sandals. I'm sure Max would love to play some outside. He is the cutest, but I'm biased.
xoxo Rebecca I love to cook. My husband loves to cook. That can be problematic. But, we try to take turns. Although, it is always my turn to clean the kitchen. That doesn't seem right. Usually, for breakfast Max, Bianca (the dog) and I have scrambled eggs and a fruit. I have been putting a yellow bell pepper and asparagus in our eggs. Yes, my son gobbles it up! The bell pepper has lutein in it that helps the eyes. It is considered the "eye vitamin". So, we use it as much as possible. Don't forget the kale! Yes, we love kale at this house. My son will eat it up, also. I do realize there will be a day when he will not. But, for now, I'm going to stuff him with the best foods possible! While mom was staying with us I didn't get to cook as much as I would normally. Of course, the day my eye "went bad" our dishwasher kicked the bucket. Jeff, our amazing appliance guy, said we have to let this one go. So, we are still shopping for a new dishwasher, until then mom and I are/were the dishwasher. My husband is super picky (it's a curse and a blessing) so, I am patiently (grumpily) waiting for his busy season to be over to get a new one. He works 14 to 16 hour days until April 15th (guess what he does?) Until then, I am trying to make one pot meals. I refuse to use paper plates! Even if that means I have to hand wash a bunch of dishes.
We had pinto beans (dry, not canned) with every yummy thing I could find in the fridge. There was some brown rice, kale, fennel, bell pepper, and breakfast sausage mixed in the beans. It was soooo good. Max devoured it! He even licked the bowl. Oddly, when I was pregnant I craved fennel. So, for about 6 months we had a fridge full of fennel. It's good my husband likes the stuff. In my cast iron skillet we had my favorite cornbread recipe. I added rosemary, the rosemary came from my little herb garden. I do have my eye on a bigger cast iron skillet since I use it for everything. But, for now this one will do. xoxo Rebecca Happy Monday! This weather is crazy! I'm over it. Last week we had some beautiful spring like days. Yesterday, winter came again, but we went walking even though it was 48 degrees. right now it's 54 degrees, not to bad, I guess. It's a good day to get things done around the house, right? When the weather was beautiful last week we spent a lot of time running errands. I love this top from Stein Mart . There are a couple of more tops I have my eye one, but with a 13 month old.....The pants are old DressBarn and the shoes are old Payless. Every once in a while I could run into Payless and find some of the cutest shoes. I will miss that. Yes, I need to smile. I take pictures seriously...haha. On March 4th, I went to the eye doctor because I was having a hard time seeing. An hour later and several phone calls, I could no longer pick up my son, drive, or much else. Two days later I was in surgery for a scleral buckle. I had a detached retina. It didn't hurt, but was serious, lose your sight serious. Over the past 12 years I have found a new appreciation for science and doctors. Science is so cool! But, that's another rabbit hole. It's been almost a month and now I can pick up my son!!! That was the hardest part. I still have bruising from the surgery, but it's so much better. My wonderful mom had to spend about a month with us to help. My husband is a workaholic, and it's his busy season. So, fun times in our household. Don't judge my grey! LOL.
It will be nice to get back to normal. And here are more details of the shirt. I really do love the color and fit of this one. The necklace is from my nieces Facebook shop, The Brody Mark-It. Check it out! She will post some cute things. I showed a close up picture of the necklace on Facebook, go check it out. the link is at the top of my page. xoxo Rebecca |
